ARTWORK INFORMATION

TITLE: A Clear Map Self

YEAR: 2018

  • A Clear Map of Self explores the idea of transformation through a sequence of self-photographic works combined with diagrammatic drawing. Across ten panels, a figure gradually rotates through a complete cycle while circular structures expand, shift, and reorganize around and through the body.

Developed from an early investigation into change and perception, the work approaches the diagram not as a tool of measurement but as a poetic device.

Repetition, variation, and subtle displacement generate an arrhythmic visual language that traces movement without defining it. As the sequence unfolds, familiar forms gradually transform into new configurations, suggesting that change is rarely linear, fixed, or complete.

Rather than documenting a singular identity, the work considers the self as a continuous process of becoming—formed through movement, repetition, and constant reconfiguration.
